About Action News
Action News is a small, independent publication focused on one thing: anime, manga and the wider world of Japanese pop culture. We publish long-form watch-order guides, character studies, ending-explained pieces, manga-versus-anime comparisons and production deep-dives — the kind of writing that takes a few hours to read and a few weeks to write.
We don't cover seasonal news beats, leaks or rumour mills. Most of our pieces are evergreen — written to still be useful three years from now, when someone finishes the latest season of a show and wants to know whether the manga is worth picking up, or which arc to skip on a rewatch.
We're based in Mumbai, India, and we read manga and watch anime the way our readers do — week by week, season by season, and occasionally in a 14-hour weekend marathon when a new ufotable opening drops.
What we cover
- Watch-order guides — Definitive, up-to-date chronological and release-order watch guides for franchises with complicated viewing paths (Fate, Monogatari, Gundam, JoJo and others).
- Character studies — Long-form analysis of individual characters: motivations, arc, themes, how the adaptation handles them differently from the manga.
- Ending explainers — When a show ends ambiguously or diverges from the manga, we walk through what actually happened, what the manga said, and what the staff have publicly confirmed.
- Manga vs. anime — Side-by-side comparisons of adaptations and source material, with specific chapter and episode citations so readers can verify our claims.
- Studio & industry deep-dives — How the major production studios — MAPPA, Madhouse, ufotable, Wit, Bones — choose projects, how key animators move between them, and what production schedules tell us about quality.
- Theme essays — Pieces that take a single theme (loneliness in Mushishi, masculinity in Berserk, grief in Frieren) and trace it across a work in detail.
Our editorial principles
- Cite the source. If we say a manga chapter confirms something the anime ambiguous-ed, we cite the chapter number. If we quote a director, we link the interview.
- No spoiler-shaming, no spoiler-leaking.Every piece is clearly labelled with its spoiler scope at the top, and we never spoil a show in another show's article.
- Update old guides.Watch orders change when new entries release. We re-edit and re-date our guides — there's a “last updated” line on every guide that reflects real edits, not silent timestamp bumps.
- Correct mistakes openly. When we get something wrong, we add a visible correction note at the top of the article. See our Corrections Policy.
- No paid placements. We don't accept payment for reviews or feature placement. Affiliate links, where they exist, are clearly marked.

The site is edited by two people. Both have full bio and contact details on their author pages.
- Kavya Nair — Anime & Manga Editor. Watching seasonal anime since 2010, edits the watch-order guides and character studies.
- Rohan Desai — Senior Anime Critic. Covers studios, industry analysis and the relationship between manga source material and adaptations.
